Division of the Humanities Travel Grants
Purpose: support for short-term, research-related travel
Qualifications: admitted to candidacy before departure overseas; research project must be completed by May 1, 2010
application must be submitted to Walker 111by May 8, 2009
GAI Summer Stipend
Application must be submitted to NELC office office by May 27, 2009

NOTE: Applications that have a deadline date “to NELC” are vetted by the department before being sent to the Dean of Students Office. Please be sure you adhere to this internal deadline, not a deadline you might see elsewhere or one mentioned by a student in another department.
In-residence FLAS (Title VI)
Purpose: provide funding for students studying designated modern foreign languages
Qualifications: Scholastic Residence, US citizen or Permanent Resident
Stuart Tave-Whiting Teaching Fellowship
Purpose: provide funding for students to teach a course of their own design in the College
Qualifications: ABD by January 31, 2009; one completed, approved dissertation chapter
Dissertation-year Fellowships (Whiting, Franke, Harper, Mellon, Provost)
Purpose: encourage completion of dissertation
Qualification: must be admitted to candidacy by April 2010; must not be in tenth year or beyond; one completed, approved dissertation chapter
Dissertation-year Fellowship (Vigneron)
Purpose: provide dissertation-year awards to promising candidates in French language and culture
Qualification: must be admitted to candidacy by April 13, 2009; one completed, approved dissertation chapter
Honigberg Fellowship for Study in Paris
Purpose: fund twelve months of research in Paris
Qualifications: comprehensive exams completed; approved proposal not necessary but students already admitted to candidacy may apply
Ryerson Fellowship in Archaeology
Purpose: support travel to study excavations and collections overseas
Qualification: working in Near Eastern archaeology (award given only in the absence of qualified candidates in Greek and Roman archaeology); research trip must begin by May 01, 2010
Hanna Holborn Gray Fellowship
Purpose: encourage completion of dissertation (three-year award, from proposal to submission)
Qualifications: current third-year student; approved proposal not necessary but recipient must be admitted to candidacy by the end of the fourth year
Special Overseas Dissertation Research Grants
Purpose: support for students financing their own dissertation research overseas
Qualifications: all coursework completed by June, 2010; approved dissertation topic by November 1, 2010; admitted to candidacy before departure overseas; able to begin overseas research by April 1, 2010; language competency to attain the stated goals
