Ottoman and Turkish Studies

Elif is a Ph.D. student in Ottoman and Turkish Studies. Her research examines the social and cultural history of the late Ottoman ulema families, focusing on their participation in politics, role in reforms in education and legal system, landholding, and privatization. Elif obtained her bachelor’s degree from Boğaziçi University (Istanbul) and her master’s degree from Paris Diderot University, where she was the recipient of Université Sorbonne Paris Cité MIEM scholarship.
