Congratulations to Mariam Sheibani (NELC PhD 2018), has joined the University of Toronto, Scarborough, as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Historical and Cultural Studies. (https://utsc.utoronto.ca/hcs/mariam-sheibani).
Dr. Sheibani defended her dissertation on " Islamic Law in an Age of Crisis and Consolidation: ‘Izz al-Dīn Ibn ‘Abd al-Salām (577-660/1187-1262) and the Ethical Turn in Medieval Islamic Law," advised by NELC Prof. Ahmed El Shamsy, in Fall 2018. Since completing her doctorate, Dr. Sheibani has held a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in the Law School at Harvard University.
