Please join us this Thursday, October 21, at 5:00 pm CST on Zoom for a talk with Hashem Morvarid! Hashem Morvarid was born in a religious family in Mashhad. After finishing high school, he entered Mashhad and, a few years later, Qum Islamic Seminaries, where he received a traditional education in Islamic sciences, including Islamic philosophy, Islamic theology, Qur’anic exegesis, and Islamic jurisprudence. He went on to do an MA in Islamic Philosophy and Theology at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. Afterwards, he earned his PhD in analytic philosophy at the Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences (IPM), Tehran. He subsequently worked as a post-doc at IPM and then as an assistant professor at Shahid Beheshi University for two years, before coming to the US for his second PhD in Philosophy at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

He will be speaking this week on "Avicenna on Māhiyya and Wujūd."
