NELC PhD candidate Chelsie May was awarded the graduate student article prize from the Women Historians of the Middle East (WHOME) for their article "'Not a Figure in the Past': Zionist Imperial Whiteness, the Iraqi Communist Party, and Their Reverberating Histories of Race and Gender, 1941–1951," currently published in the Journal of Middle East Women's Studies. Chelsie was given this award remotely during this year's MESA (Middle East Studies Association Annual Meeting), hosted by WHOME.
