NELC Professor of Sumerian Christopher Woods was named the thirteenth director of the Oriental Institute. He begins his tenure as director on July 1, 2017. He succeeds Gil Stein, professor of archaeology at UChicago, who has served as the institute’s director since 2002. See the Humanities Division announcement here.
