Please join us this Thursday, April 7, at 5:00 pm CST for a talk with the renowned Iranian artist, Iman Afsarian! Iman Afsarian is considered as one the most celebrated still-life painters of Iran. Born in Tehran, he continues to live and work there. He received an MA in illustration in 2000 and a BA in painting in 1996 from Tehran’s University of Art. He has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions since his first solo show in 1994, and his work is included in some reputable international collections. As well as being an established painter, Afsarian is a Professor at the University of Art in Tehran, and he has been the director of the painting section of the magazine Herfeh: Honarmand since its first issue in 2003. He has also published numerous articles in Iranian magazines on art and culture, and he was an editor and contributor to In Search of New Times. He is also the founder and director of the “Simurghnameh” project.
The title of his talk is “Simurghnameh: Reconsidering Iranian Arts and Culture.”

لطفا این پنجشنبه برای سخنرانی استاد ایمان افسریان با ما همراه باشید! ایمان افسریان نقاش و پژوهشگر ایرانی است. او دوره‌های کارشناسی نقاشی و کارشناسی ارشد تصویرسازی را در دانشگاه هنر گذراند، و استاد چاپ در آن دانشگاه است. همچنین سردبیری نشریه‌ی حرفه‌هنرمند را برعهده دارد و نوشته‌های انتقادی خود پیرامون هنر معاصر ایران را از سال‌ها پیش در این فصلنامه منتشر می‌کند. علاوه بر این، مجموعه‌ای از مقالات نوشته شده در حرفه‌هنرمند توسط نویسندگان مختلف، به همت او با عنوان درآمدی بر تاریخ انتقادی هنر معاصر ایران (دو جلد) چاپ شده است. همچنین او نویسنده کتاب در جستجوی زمان نو است. افسریان ده نمایشگاه خصوصی برگزار کرده است و آثارش در نمایشگاه‌هایی گروهی در نقاط مختلف دنیا به نمایش درآمده‌اند. او موسس و مدیر پروژه «سیمرغنامه» نیز است.
عنوان سخنرانی او " «سیمرغنامه»: پروژه‌ای برای بازشناسی ایران فرهنگی" می باشد.
