هذا الأسبوع نتشرف باستضافة الدكتورة كاي هايكّنان، التي ستلقي محاضرة بعنوان
"تجربتي في ترجمة بعض الروايات الفلسطينية"
الدكتورة كاي هايكّنان خريجة برنامج "كاسا" في القاهرة، ودرست اللغة العربية هنا في جامعة شيكاجو لسنوات طويلة. بعد التقاعد وهي تتفرغ للترجمة، التي عشقتها خلال سنوات التدريس. حظيت ترجمة لها (لرواية المخمل لحزامة حبايب) بجائزة "بانيبال" لأفضل ترجمة لرواية عربية في سنة 2020.
.تُرحِّب الندوة العربية بجميع الطلاب من شتّى المستويات بالإضافة إلى كل محبي اللغة العربية. نتمنى أن نراكم قريباً إن شاء الله!

This week we are honored to host Dr. Kay Heikkinen, who will deliver an in-person talk entitled: “My Experience Translating a Few Palestinian Novels”.
Dr. Heikkinen is an alumna of the CASA Fellowship in Cairo, and taught Arabic at UChicago for eighteen years. Since retiring she has devoted herself full-time to translation, which she came to love during her years of teaching. Her translation of the novel Velvet (Makhmal) by Huzama Habayeb won the Banipal Prize for Arabic Literary Translation in 2020.
Arabic Circle is open to students, faculty and community members of all levels in Arabic, as well as anyone interested in the language. We look forward to seeing you! Please feel free to contact us with any questions or feedback.
