Hebrew Circle resumes activity in the Winter 2024 quarter on Tuesday January 9, 2024, at 4 pm (141 Saieh Hall).
This coming Tuesday we will meet Professor Na'ama Rokem, Chair of the Department of Literature and professor at NELC at the University of Chicago, who will talk about Franz Kafka's Hebrew studies - in the early 1920s, Franz Kafka lived in Berlin, where he followed circles of Jewish culture and was connected to Zionist circles . In his estate are several notebooks documenting the Hebrew studies of the well-known writer. In the notebooks there are various allusions to the connection between the study of Hebrew and its writing, which we will talk about in this talk.
