מועדון תרבות ייפגש (בפעם האחרונה ברבעון הסתיו 2023) ביום שלישי 14 בנובמבר 2023 בשעה 4 אחר הצהריים בחדר 141 בבניין Saieh לשיחה עם פרופסור בועז קיסר, מהמחלקה לפסיכולוגיה באוניברסיטת שיקגו, על הנושא "השפעת שפה ודו לשוניות על חשיבה וקבלת החלטות".
השפה היא חלק בלתי נפרד של היומיום שלנו ולכן אנחנו לא רואים כמה היא משפיעה על כל אספקט של חיינו. במפגש יתאר פרופסור קיסר מחקר מהמעבדה שלו, אשר מגלה ששימוש בשפה שניה משפיע על קבלת החלטות ויסביר כיצד משפיעה השפה על לקיחת סיכונים, קבלת החלטות מוסריות, זיכרון, תפיסת הזמן ועוד. פרופסור בועז קיסר סיים את לימודי הדוקטורט בשנת 1989 באוניברסיטת פרינסטון והצטרף לאוניברסיטת שיקגו בשנת 1991. פרופסור קיסר הוא ראש מעבדת המחקר בתחום רב שפתיות וקבלת החלטות. בנוסף לפרסים אקדמיים רבים בהם זה, פרופסור קיסר הוא זוכה פרס הנשיא ביל קלינטון למתנדבים לשנת 2000.
The Hebrew Circle will meet (for the last time in the 2023 Fall quarter) on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at 4 pm in 141 Saieh Hall for a conversation with Professor Boaz Keysar from the Department of Psychology at the University of Chicago, on the topic "Multilingualism and Decision-Making".
Language is an integral part of our everyday life, yet we don't see how much it affects every aspect of our lives. At the meeting, Professor Keysar will describe research from his lab, which reveals how using a second language affects decision-making and the ways language affects risk-taking, moral decision-making, memory, perception of time, and more. Boaz Keysar is the William Benton Professor in Psychology at the University of Chicago. He received his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1989. Keysar joined the faculty of the University of Chicago in 1991. Keysar was awarded the President's Service award by President Clinton for his non-profit work.
