ستلقي هذا الأسبوع الدكتورة صفاء أبو شهلا جبران محاضرة بعنوان "ترجمة الأدب وتحدياته: الترجمة ما بين العربية والبرتغالية بين اليوم والأمس".
صفاء جبران أستاذة جامعية وأكاديمية من مواليد لبنان، مقيمة في البرازيل. تعمل أستاذة للغة العربية والأدب العربي الحديث في جامعة ساو باولو/ البرازيل، حيث شغلت منصب رئيسة قسم اللغات الشرقية لمدة 4 سنوات. لها العديد من الأوراق والمقالات الأكاديمية في اللسانيات والدراسات في تاريخ العلوم والمخطوطات العربية والترجمة. هي مترجمة من وإلى اللغة البرتغالية، صدر لها العديد من الترجمات من العربية الى البرتغالية، منها: ميرامار (نجيب محفوظ)، موسم الهجرة إلى الشمال (الطيب صالح)، باب الشمس، يالو وأسمي آدم (إلياس الخوري)، هاتف المغيب (جمال غيطاني)، بريد الليل وحارث المياه (هدى بركات)، سيدات القمر (جوخة الحارثي)، وذاكرة للنسيان (محمود درويش). نقلت بعض الكتب من الأدب البرازيلي إلى العربية، بينها رواية شقيقان للكاتب البرازيلي (ميلتون حاطوم)، وماء حيّ للكاتبة البرازيلية (كلاريس ليبسكتور) ومن المهجر إلى الوطن (مختارات من الأدب البرازيلي). حصلت على جائزة الشيخ حمد للترجمة، عام 2019.

Professor Safa Jubran will be giving a talk titled: "Translating Literature and its Challenges: Translation between Arabic and Portuguese in the Past and Present".
Safa Jubran, born in Lebanon, is a university professor residing in Brazil. She teaches Arabic and contemporary Arabic literature at the University of São Paulo, where she has served as the head of the Department of Near Eastern Languages for 4 years. She has published numerous academic articles on the topics of linguistics, studies in the history of science, Arabic manuscripts, and translation. She translates to and from Portuguese and has published numerous translations from Arabic to Portuguese like: Miramar (Najib Mahfouz), Seasons of Migration to the North (Tayeb Salih), Yalo and My Name is Adam (Elias Khoury), The Night Post and The Tiller of Waters (Hoda Barakat), Celestial Bodies (Jokha al-Harthi), Memory for Forgetfulness (Mahmoud Darwish). She has also translated Portuguese literature to Arabic like the novel The Brothers (Milton Hatoum), Living Water (Clarice Lispector) and From Diaspora to Home (an anthology of Brazilian literature).
